First Class Maths is a resource designed to challenge and inspire high-attaining year 6 mathematicians. The tasks are contextualised, complex, quirky and require children to draw together a range of mathematical skills. I have had such fun delivering them in the classroom! Below is an example task, The Village Elder:

The tasks range from straight logic puzzles (The Heist, The Jewellery Case) to the application a range of year 6 content (for example The Bomb Disposal Operation), covering objectives in exciting and novel ways and making links between different areas of the maths curriculum.

I’m delighted to say that it’s on sale here: http://www.thecepress.com/product/first-class-maths/ A massive thanks for all the positive feedback we have received so far since its release.

I hope you can see a place for these tasks in your classroom; they have made a huge impact in mine.
